A Journey Through Hand-Crafted Italian Ceramics

Since the early 1500s in Castelli, Italy, Artisans have created stunning pottery pieces that have been passed down through generations of their families for centuries. Each piece is a timeless and beautiful work of art.

Orazio Pompei, is one of the famous artisans. He was an extraordinary artist who influenced the ceramic industry in Castelli, from the 15th to 17th century. He created his pharmacy vases with a very rich “front” part and a “back” by freehand painting that was light, elegant, and almost modern for his time.

The techniques Orazio Pompei used with wide brushes and geometric lines, resulted in luxurious ceramics and shapes that are beautiful works of art. They are still timeless to this day.

Although there are still workshops in Italy that use Orazio Pompei techniques as inspiration. There are not many artists left that can transform and create using wide brushes and geometrical lines.

Today these ceramics still inspire and captivate everyone.

Eleganza Collection

A rustic wooden dining table set with green and white patterned dinnerware, wine glasses filled with red wine, and various decorative elements including a bottle of red wine, amber glassware, pomegranate, apple, and cheese on a wooden platter, with a stone wall in the background.

Growing up in the region of Puglia in Italy, Martino was always surrounded by history and vibrant art. Naturally, he developed an interest in Art and History.

Martino broadened his creativity not just for food, but in the form of ceramic art to create a more defined, elegant and sophisticated dining experience, from the pristine landscapes of Italy to your table.

And so, Eleganza was born. Martino Pulito Ceramics, is committed to using centuries old techniques, bringing the past and future together.

Eleganza is made exclusively in Castelli, Italy by Argillarte. Eleganza is hand-made and hand-painted. Martino describes Eleganza as “Elegant and refined design, minimalist and simple. Eleganza represents honesty, wisdom and faithfulness. Eleganza is a sign of nobility, luxury and sophisticated art in a modern world.”

A table setting with white and green patterned plates, bowls, and cups, two crystal glasses with gold rims, silverware on white napkins, and a tray with small matching bowls.

Martino used Orazio Pompei's ceramics, his delicate hand painted patterns and attention to detail as inspiration for Eleganza.

The process of developing the sizes of each piece and product line took many months. It is done with meticulous precision. For example, using the traditional measures and forms from the 1900's to create the “Biscotto”.

If there is 1cm more or less in height or diameter, it can change people's perception and how they harmonize on the table. The elegant freehand drawings on a plate, bowls and side plates are set to harmonize completely with how and where they are placed on your table.

The hand-painting of Eleganza is what makes them works of art. Martino used the traditional colouring techniques that are still used in Italy to this day. It begins with dipping the ceramic into a bin or container of one color and letting it dry. Then hand-painting the intricate designs on them.
